9 Easy Steps to an Effective Sitz Bath Hemorrhoids Relief

1. A Sitz Bath Hemorrhoids Container

Place a large basin inside the bathtub. You can also use the bathtub itself instead. Alternatively, you can get a plastic sitz bath basin which is easily available from your local pharmacy, especially if you don’t have a bathtub. It is a plastic bowl that can be placed on top of your toilet seat, which has small holes at the top to allow overflowing water to go back into the toilet bowl.

2. Hot Water

Pour in hot water (100 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit, or 37 to 48 degree Celsius) into the basin (or bathtub) to a height of around 2 to 3 inches, and place the basin on your bathtub (or on the toilet bowl if you’re using the plastic sitz bath basin).

You can add a cup of chamomile (a powerful anti-inflammatory herb) or comfrey tea into the hot water. Include a drop of valerian root tincture to eliminate sphincter spasms. This step is optional, but is recommended.

4. Maintaining Your Body Temperature

7. Drying

After that, pat-dry your anus gently. Do not rub or apply too much pressure on it. Or you can also use a hair-dryer instead for more convenience. Pour cold water area the bathtub to cool off the area if you were inside the bathtub.

8. Frequency

You are advised to carry out this procedure after defecating, and to perform this entire process around 2 times a day.

9. Alternative

Give yourself a treat once in a while by visiting a hot spring, and soak yourself inside a hot alkaline spring instead. Sulfur springs are another good choice too.
