1. Pilewort

This herb derives its name from its tubers’ uncanny resemblance to hemorrhoids itself, and also its historical usage for hemorrhoid relief treatment! It is commonly available in ointments and tinctures.

2. Pomegranate

As one of the powerful astringents (substance which shrinks body tissues), pomegranate juice is not only an excellent drink, it’s also a very powerful topical (directly applied on the body) liquid. It can be a bit difficult to find though. Soak a cotton ball with the pomegranate juice and insert it into your rectum, directly applying on your hemorrhoids.

3. Witch Hazel

4. Aloe Vera

5. Horse Chestnut

Ironically poisonous to horses, the horse chestnut are usually available in the forms of creams and liquid using its seed extract. Soak a cotton ball with 15 drops on its tincture and apply on your hemorrhoids a few times each day.

Prepare one ounce of of dried Calendula leaves in a quart jar (approximately 32 oz or 1 liter in volume). Pour boiling water into the jar and close the lid. Let the mixture cool down. Then use a cloth to dip inside and apply it directly on your hemorrhoids a few times a day. (or as many times as you want)  This herb is also effectively used in warm sitz baths. Just toss the leaves into your bath!

7. Coconut oil

Apply coconut oil directly on your hemorrhoids a few times a day, especially for the more severe cases. It works as a good relief.

8. White Radish

Prepare some white radish juice by grating it, and mix it with a little bit of honey. Apply this mixture directly on your hemorrhoids for an effective hemorrhoid relief.

9. Garlic

Commonly used in Russia, you can peel and scrape some raw garlic, and leave it out in the open for a night. This is best inserted into your rectum. However, it is not recommended as a treatment for bleeding hemorrhoids. Use this treatment only after the bleeding has stopped.

10. Suppositories

Hemorrhoids suppositories are drugs that are administered into the rectum. These are more commonly used for relieving internal hemorrhoids, but you can also use it for external piles. Some conventional examples include the Proctosedyl suppository, Preparation H, and the Hydrocortisone Rectal.

It’s generally recommended to lie down as you push the suppository inside so that it can go in easily. After inserting, stay lying down so it can melt inside your anus without dripping out. It will melt very quickly as they are very susceptible to melting, thus do not hold them in your hands for too long, and keep them refrigerated.

Most of the commercial products contain the chemical hydrocortisone as the active ingredient, which helps to stop itching and relieve inflammation of skin areas. It is also used in relieving other skin areas like your hair scalp, you skin in general and even your mouth.

Commercial cream products like Anusol and hydrocotisone creams are great relievers for your inflamed hemorrhoids. They are different from hemorrhoids suppositories as they are applied on anus, not inserted inside.
